Delhi is the
symbol of old India and new, even the stones here whisper
to our ears of the ages of long ago and the air we breathe
is full of the dust and fragrances of the past, as also of
the fresh and piercing winds of the present. The eternal
Yamuna has witnessed the glory and the tumultuous history
of the 3000 year old Delhi.

Agra is famous
as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the world-the
Taj Mahal. The architectural splendour of the mausoleums,
the fort and the palaces is vivid reminder of the opulence
of the legendary Mughal empire, of which Agra was the
capital in the 16th and early 17th centuries. While its
significance as a political center ended with the transfer
of the capital to Delhi in 1634 by Shah Jahan, its
architectural wealth has secured its place on the
international map.

Mahal at sunrise and sunset, the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah,
the Agra Fort, the Akbar Mausoleum in Sikandra and

beautiful Pink City Jaipur, was the stronghold of a clan
of rulers whose three hill forts and series of palaces in
the city are important attractions. Known as the Pink City
because of the colour of the stone used exclusively in the
walled city, Jaipur's bazaars sell embroidered leather
shoes, blue pottery, tie and dye scarves and other exotic
wares. Western Rajasthan itself forms a convenient
circuit, in the heart of the Thar desert which has shaped
its history, lifestyles and architecture.

Formerly known
as Bombay or Mumbai is an amalgamation of seven islands
Colaba, Mumbai, Mazagaon, Old Womans island, Wadala, Mahim,
Parel, and Matunga Sion. The Portuguese called the islands
"Bombay" meaning "Good Bay". These islands were ruled by
the Hindu dynasties, the Muslims and then were presented
to King Charles II in 1661 as part of the dowry when he
married Princess Catherine de Braganza of Portugal. Bombay
was handed over to the East India Company in 1668. It
started growing as a trade center owing to shift of the
shipbuilding industry from Surat. The opening of the Suez
Canal after the American Civil War enabled export of
cotton from Bombay.

Cochin, the
commercial capital of Kerala, served by an international
airport, fine communication facilities, excellent

tourist places gives a breathtaking experience for its
visitors and settlers. The district took its form on 1st
April 1958, by carving out the areas of erstwhile
Travancore, Kochi & Malabar kingdoms. The word Ernakulam
was derived from a Tamil word 'Erayanarkulam' which means
Lord Shiva's abode.

are its remarkable ambiance, lush green tea gardens,
mesmerizing lakes, dense forests and a cool salubrious
climate. Munnar is located at the confluence of three
mountain streams, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala.
Once, Munnar was the summer resort of the British
government in South India.

oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India, Periyar National
Park and Tiger Reserve was established in the verdant
stretches of Kerala in 1895 and declared a Tiger Reserve
in 1978. The Periyar Widlife Sanctuary covers an area of
777 sq km, out of which 360 sq km is under thick and dense
evergreen forests. Surrounded by the dense forests, it is
quite popular for the Periyar Lake.
